A MEETING PLACE

Welcome to a place where community members of all ages can meet, unplug, and spend time together over a coffee or light meal. In small towns (many moons ago) that meeting place was always the village green, and so we found our name.
Glenunga Hub Kiosk and the Burnside Civic Centre.
Coffee. Seasonal Menu. Catering. Kids Parties.

WELCOME

To The Village Green, a place and a menu designed with our own kids and families in mind. From the freshest seasonal menus and daily specials, to our catering service, events, kids parties and book club tasting experiences, you'll find something you'll love.

CATERING

We specialise in small to medium group catering for corporate and special events, but if you're looking for the same old cheese and cabana platter our service probably isn't for you. With a simple pricing model of per head instead of per item, we offer everything from cocktail nibbles and custom antipasto platters to kids party packs, frittatas, fresh-tossed noodle boxes and full meal service. Check out our options here.

KIDS PARTIES

Our party packages will put huge smiles on the faces of your little people, with fresh healthy food they'll love in an environment where they can run around and have fun with the grass between their toes and a playground on our doorstep. Take a look then submit an enquiry to book in a date.

BOOK CLUBS

With one of our cafes next door to a Library that claims Australia's largest number of active book clubs, we launched the world's first book-club tasting experience where your group can share the food featured in the story. Whether the rich fare of wartime France in All the Light I Cannot See, the spices of Vietnam in The Quiet American, or the Spanish tapas from Don Quixote, just let us know what you're reading and we'll supply the food, for collection to take home or served here in our cafe space.

SARA NEAVE

Long frustrated with the stodge and sugar being served up at junior sports venues around the country, Sara took on the kiosk at Glenunga Hub with the intent of providing families with beautiful, affordable and healthy food. The Burnside Library was an opportunity to extend the same philosophy into a more traditional cafe space, and The Village Green was born.

BARBARA BIALECKA

Both Barbara and Sara cut their teeth at the famous Rustic Gourmet cafe and catering operation on Greenhill Rd, and Barbara went on to launch her own catering business before teaming up with Sara again as manager of The Village Green's Burnside Library cafe. As an obsessed foodie and coffee snob, Barbara insists if the food isn't perfect, it isn't for sale.

THE SUPPORTING CAST

The most important people in the business are those that show up every day with a smile, make beautiful coffee, cook our seasonal offerings and keep our customers coming back for more. Thanks to Becky, Jess, Leslee, Jack, Georgie, Richelle, Marisa, Kate, Soph, Amelie, Millie, Tess, and everyone else that has helped out in times of need. You guys rock.
